From NEOCA Parents

“Nothing excites me more about enrolling my homeschooled daughters at NEOCA more than the curriculum selection. As a secondary educator who had selected our family’s curriculum for years, the Hillsdale College materials check all our boxes. It emphasizes a breadth of knowledge from history to literature to philosophy and fine arts. The four core disciplines are balanced and focus on the student learner and not the student “repeater”. This curriculum goes beyond the requirements of memorization for testation and focuses on critical thinking and connection building. The kinesthetic modalities and interconnectedness of these materials truly amaze me.

I’m not the only one excited about this opportunity either. Both of my daughters are excited to enter a classroom that focuses on true citizenship and service without the distractions of media and technology. This is a one-of-a-kind gem located right here in Northeastern Ohio, and the best part—no tuition! Having worked in the Dean’s Office of the College of Liberal Arts at a Tier 1 research institution, these students will be well-prepared future leaders in this country and abroad.” —Ashlea Bruno

From NEOCA Staff

“My name is Bill Altman and I’ll be teaching your fifth grader this year. After 29 years of public school teaching, I’m making a big move (at least for me) to classical education at the Northeast Ohio Classical Academy. I’ve been told that I’m the first faculty recruit and genuinely excited to join the team!

When I began teaching almost three decades ago, public education was quite different from what it is today. Like many veteran teachers, I’ve become a bit disenchanted with much of the new environment that too often stresses things not central to a meaningful education. Learning about NEOCA was therefore quite intriguing and the more learned – about the classical curriculum, the school’s affiliation with Hillsdale College, and the approach to building and sustaining a productive and engaging learning environment – the more I was convinced that this new school represents a return to the values and experience that drew me to teaching in the first place.

So, in short, NEOCA is the kind of environment I want to teach in. I’m very excited to meet and work with you and your child to give them a meaningful education. I also think we’re going to have a lot of fun. See you in September!” – Bill Altman

From Parents at other Classical Academy schools

“The culture and curriculum of The Classical Academy have surpassed our expectations. We have no doubt our boys are mastering skills and information that would not be expected, or even presented, in other environments.” —The Classical Academy, Indianapolis, IN

“They emphasize virtues and values which means that the students are not only being taught at home but also at school. Their values are in line with ours so it truly helps us parents re-emphasize on the importance of being a good person and teach them that they can take that with them wherever they go. You can see the values in play as you watch the children support each other in class and at sporting events.” —True North Classical Academy, Miami, Florida

“Driving over 40 miles one way to get to school seemed insane, until we visited JECA. Here we encountered a community of families and teachers who have made our first year rich and fulfilling. Our children come home each day with words of praise instead of complaint. They are excited about their work. One of them said, “It’s great! We actually learn stuff here.” Another told me, “The teachers actually care about us!” We no longer have to fight against what our kids learn at school. We now have the great gift of an entire school family working alongside us as we seek to educate the hearts and minds of our children.” —Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy, White Creek, TN
