Mellany Shonk

Second Grade Teacher

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Business Management (Kent State University)
  • Post Baccalaureate, Early Childhood Education (Franklin University)

Mellany Shonk is a resident of Copley and lives with her husband and three daughters. She discovered her passion for educating children while working as a substitute teacher for five years. Her teaching philosophy is centered around creating and building meaningful relationships with students and families to construct positive, caring connections. She recognizes the need for a safe, secure, and respectful classroom community where all students engage in intellectual and moral development. Mrs. Shonk is an animal lover and has three goldendoodles who bring much chaos and love to her home. Her favorite childhood book is The Velveteen Rabbit as she believes the message of self-acceptance, unconditional love, and connection is of the utmost importance. When not at school, she enjoys reading and listening to the ocean waves at her favorite beach spot in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Mrs. Shonk is excited to welcome you to Northeast Ohio Classical Academy.
