Classical Education

Q. What is “Classical Education?”

A. Classical Education is the return to teaching basic learning skills for knowledge mastery. It is not experimental, trendy, or untested. Classical Education is a time-honored style of teaching and learning that stimulates curiosity, critical thinking, and logical thought.

Q. What is the benefit of NEOCA’s Classical Education curriculum?

A. NEOCA is steadfast in our belief that the American Classical curriculum offers students (and teachers) the greatest opportunity to succeed in life! Logistics and Operations

Q. What time does school start?

A. School starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

Q. What are the options for transportation?

A. Transportation is provided by your home school district, with some provisions. If you live within 2 miles of the campus, your school district is not obligated to provide transportation and you would be expected to arrange your own. If you live beyond 2 miles and within a 30-minute bus ride, then your home school district must provide either transportation or else a voucher to offset your transportation costs. You would work this out with your home school Bus Garage (search for your district + bus garage on google). We are here as a resource to facilitate your inquiries with them. NEOCA may also be able to assist in helping parents coordinate carpools.

Q. How are lunches handled at NEOCA? Is there a free lunch program?

A. Hot lunch will be available for those children not planning to bring their lunch from home. NEOCA can also facilitate signups for the free lunch program through our FinalForms online enrollment portal.

Q. Is there after-school care for students?

A. Yes.

Q. Is Kindergarten a full school day?

A. Yes.

Q. Is there an electronic technology policy?

A. Yes. Cell phones, laptops, the internet, and social media are not allowed for students while at school.

Q. Is NEOCA accountable to the State of Ohio for following state guidelines regarding education?

A. Yes. As a charter school, we are responsible for following the guidelines set by our state charter contract. Through our approved sponsor, NEOCA adheres to all the requirements of the State of Ohio for a public school.
